Recently a Smithie somewhere within the Tumblr landscape made this astonishingly accurate post about identifying with 5 College school ‘that dude’ in your class is from.  Check it:

THE AMHERST MALE: This male saunters.  He has swagger.  He wears polos from Lacoste or Ralph Lauren.  He raises his hand at every possible opportunity and corrects the professor more than That Girl.  Despite being rather obnoxious, he is oddly charming, so be careful.  He doesn’t really care about your opinions on Kant.  He either wants a pretty girl on his arm or in his bed.

THE HAMPSHIRE MALE: This male shuffles and smells like patchouli and pot.  He shops at thrift stores.  He mumbles and says “man” a lot.  He doesn’t speak much but when he does it’s bizarrely profound…but usually wrong.  He may appear to be your friend in rebelling against the patriarchy but beware – he just wants to get laid, man. [or he's gay, in which case you can have a great conversation about designer hipster wear with him.  in which case you'll probably end up wanting to fuck him...but nay, he is about as gay as Capen House]

THE UMASS MALE: This male may at first appear to be an Amherst male, but can be distinguished by his sandals, backwards baseball cap, and constant political incorrectness and general incorrectness.  He rarely shows up to class and when he does he has rarely done his homework.  He’ll be fun and entertaining and show you a good time but at the end of the day you will be drunk and shirtless on a pool table, so watch out. [chances are that he'll try to get you to make out with one of your friends from Smith, even if you're straight]
