WATCH: Jane Lynch Delivers Commencement Address to the Class of 2012

Quick Recap: Emmy and Golden Globe–winning actress Jane Lynch was the speaker at Smith College’s 134th commencement ceremony on Sunday, May 20, 2012. Ms. Lynch becomes a Smithie herself, through garnering an Honorary Degree through Smith, naming her Doctor of Fine Arts.

You have to admit that although Barnard may have had President Obama, and that was cool and all, Smith got Coach Sue herself, Jane Lynch. I think we won that one…

Enough bragging! Smithies, it is my pleasure to present a woman who, much like us, can speak for herself, Jane Lynch.

Who are the women of Smith? You are fiercely independent, wicked smart, trail blazing, uber confident and shockingly entitled. Like I said, I know this because I live with one of you. I have no doubt you will continue with this legacy and you will change the world. And, we need you to, women of Smith College — now more than ever.”

Brinda Somaya DFA (Doctor of Fine Arts)
Once again, all congratulations and the very best of luck to the Class of 2012!
